Group Exercise Classes

Activate Health prides itself on delivering goal driven, individualised, achievable but challenging, and enjoyable group exercise to individuals of all abilities and disabilities. All clases are prescribed and supervised by an Experienced Accredited Exercise Physiologist and tailored to the needs of the group.

Class Timetables – Yeppoon, Rockhampton, and Emu Park 

 

ACTIV Ladies (Ladies only senior ladies exercise): Group exercises focused for health issues affecting senior females such as Osteoporosis prevention/management, back pain, increased energy, Joint pain and restriction, increased balance and mobility, decrease weight and T2Diabetes prevention.

ACTIV Blokes (Male only senior male exercise): Men’s group exercise class targeting specific needs and injures, such as T2 Diabetes, weight loss, strength, Osteoarthritis, and increased mobility, function and quality of life.

Activate Fitness (ladies only): for all levels- incorporates health goals specific to the group needs including weight loss, increased function & fitness, strength & muscles tone and reduced joint pain. Higher intensity that Active Seniors.

Activate Mobility (gentle and seated exercise): gentle exercise class for elderly or those with restricted mobility, a combination of seated, standing and balance exercises designed to increase mobility and function for life.

Activate NEURO (Parkinsons and stroke): A specific group exercise class that is targeted towards those effected by Neurological diseases and its symptoms such as Parkinson’s, Stroke, or MD. With a focus on BIG movements, improving balance & co-ordination and strength in a fun and positive environment.

Hydrotherapy: Offers a fun non-weight bearing form of physical activity focused on improving blood circulation, reducing muscle spasms & joint pain. Helps manage weight, increase overall strength & fitness.

 

All our classes are by confirmation prior to the class and on the day payments.  No lock in commitments or large fees. No joining fee is required, however a One 0n One initial consultation and assessment is required to ensure suitably, safety, and our ability to help you reach your goals!

 

ACTIV Seniors (Ladies Only Exercise Session)

A fun and social group exercise class focused towards improving health issues affecting senior females.

This class focuses on improving senior women’s health issues such as osteoporosis, joint pain and restriction, low energy, underactive pelvic floor, balance and mobility, overweight/obese and Diabetes management. These issues can be improved and managed by attending this exercise class.

Classes are small with supervision by Accredited Exercise Physiologist’s for safe and effective execution. Care is taken to ensure all individuals enjoy full participation and health benefits.

Experienced Accredited Exercise Physiologist tailor the class and exercises to individual needs and abilities. A private initial assessment is preferably conducted prior to joining, at the cost of a regular consultation to ensure participant safety, appropriate group level, and class specificity.

 

   

 

ACTIV Blokes (Senior Men’s Group Exercise)

A small group exercise circuit specific to the needs and goals of the participating males.

An ever changing enjoyable session focusing on increasing health, losing weight, increasing function for manual tasks, increasing performance for life and recreation. Also suitable for managing osteoarthritis, hypertension, joint pain, and type 2 Diabetes.

All classes are supervised by experienced Accredited Exercise Physiologist that tailor the class and exercises to individual needs and abilities. A private initial assessment is preferably conducted prior to joining, at the cost of a regular consultation to ensure participant safety, appropriate group level and class specificity.

   

 

ACTIVATE Mobility 

A gentle group exercise class for those with restricted mobility focused towards improving function.

This class focuses on improving chronic health conditions and injuries such as obesity, COPD, Diabetes, chronic pain, cardiac conditions, nerve pain and limb injuries. The class includes a combination of seated, standing and balance exercises.

Classes are small with supervision by Accredited Exercise Physiologist’s for safe and effective execution. Care is taken to ensure all individuals enjoy full participation and health benefits.

ACTIVATE Fitness 

 

ACTIVATE Neuro

A specific group exercise class that is targeted towards those effected with Parkinson’s Disease and Stroke.

This class focuses towards getting clients active again after a devastating stroke or suffering with the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. The class includes a combination of seated, standing and balance exercises.

Class numbers are limited to ensure the correct care is available for all participants. In a fun group environment, exercises are focused on BIG movements to help improve musculoskeletal strength, balance games to help reduce falls risk and co-ordination to help improve Activities of Daily Living.

Accredited Exercise Physiologist’s ensure all exercise are targeted to specific tasks and are achievable for all. A private initial assessment is preferably conducted prior to joining, at the cost of a regular consultation to ensure participant safety, appropriate group level, and class specificity.

ACTIVATE Hydrotherapy 

Our hydrotherapy services provide a personally tailored therapeutic service in a professional and supportive environment.

Exercising in water is an excellent way to build strength, ease stiff joints, relax sore muscles, assist circulation, and relieve pain. Hydrotherapy can provide therapeutic assistance for a range of conditions, including:

  • Arthritis and joint pain,
  • Joint replacement and orthopaedic surgery,
  • Back and neck pain,
  • Muscular aches and weakness,
  • Sporting injuries,
  • Neurological conditions, and
  • Obesity and Diabetes.

What to Expect

New participants will receive an initial assessment from an Accredited Exercise Physiologist to determine their needs and goals. An individually tailored hydrotherapy program may be designed and provided to you or you may be recommended a group class suiting your needs. Our group classes are conducted in a variety of locations with all pools having disability access, suitable pool water temperature, and full facilities.

Participants do not need to be able to swim in order to take part.
