Occupational Therapist (Hand and Upper limb specialist) (Lymphatic specialist)

About Me:

I’m Tayla Thrupp, an Occupational Therapist with over a decade of experience and a passion for helping people regain function, confidence, and independence. I graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 and have dedicated my career to the assessment and treatment of hand and upper limb conditions.

As an Accredited Occupational Therapist and Associate Member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA), I provide evidence-based hand therapy tailored to each individual’s goals, lifestyle, and recovery journey.

From the very beginning of my career, hand therapy has been my true passion. After graduating, I commenced work in private practice specialising in hand therapy, where I developed a strong foundation in treating a wide range of traumatic, post-operative, and chronic hand and upper limb conditions.

Throughout my career, I have worked across both public and private hospitals in metropolitan and rural settings, gaining experience in hand therapy, acute medical care, intensive care, and rehabilitation. These diverse clinical experiences have strengthened my ability to manage complex conditions while maintaining a holistic, patient-centred approach.

After spending time back in my rural hometown, my family and I made the decision to relocate to the beautiful Capricorn Coast, where I established my own hand therapy practice in Yeppoon. Running my own business was an incredibly rewarding experience that challenged me to grow not only as a clinician but also as a business owner. Although working on my own was rewarding it also highlighted the immense value of working within a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients, which is why I was so excited to join the activate health team.

I believe successful rehabilitation is about more than simply treating an injury—it’s about understanding each person’s goals and partnering with them throughout their recovery. I enjoy working alongside my clients every step of the way, empowering them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to return to the activities that matter most to them.

With a genuine fascination for anatomy and biomechanics, I see hand therapy/occupational therapy as the perfect combination of science, problem-solving, and creativity. I am committed to providing individualised, evidence-based care using the latest research and best practice principles to help every client achieve the best possible outcome.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, preparing for or recovering from surgery, managing arthritis or a persistent hand condition, or simply wanting to restore strength and function, my goal is to help you move with confidence and get back to doing what you love.
